If you are on the balloon launching field there safety is a significant issue. Wear natural fiber clothing. The balloon burners can ignite flammable fabrics. Do not step over ropes or other items attached to balloons. Stay out of the way of the balloon crews when they are working.
About this spot
The Crown of Maine Balloon Festival is held on the last full weekend in August before Labor Day weekend.
The general public is only permitted on the launch field as passengers. Unless you have photographer's access to the launch field you will shoot from the general public area. Ask for access as a photographer. The worst that can happen is that they say "no." I was able to obtain photographer's access to the field.
