FL - Alluvial Fan

About this spot
The Alluvial Fan is where the debris of rocks and soil carried down by the Roaring River spreads out into the shape of a fan. This area has been the site of two major flood events in recent history. The first happened in 1982 when a dam located 6 miles (9.7 km) upstream collapsed sending a wall of water down the river carving out the banks of the river and reshaping the Alluvial Fan area. The second major flood was in 2013 caused by a massive rainstorm. It further carved out the river and reshaped the Alluvial Fan. You may notice or experience significant trail damage as a result of the 2013 storm.
