It was a challenge to get a good photograph of Tumwater Falls today. First of all, there are wildfires burning around the state and everything has a gray haze. Then all the recommendations for photographing falls say you should do it in the early morning or late afternoon. This was far enough away that I got there at noon, and the sun was blasting away on one side of the ravine and the other side was incredibly dark. If I got the water right other parts of the image were either washed out or were too dark to rescue. This area is just below the main upper Falls. The image isn’t perfect, but I liked how it captured the natural flow of the water and the human-made structure of the fish ladder.
