Building the Light In 1901, the Lighthouse Board determined that a light and fog signal should be built on Point Elliott to help guide vessels headed for Possession Sound, and acquired a 2.6 acre site. The Lighthouse Service began construction of the Mukilteo Light Station in 1905 and it took eight months to complete.

The ferry access has since moved to a new location further to the east of the old one.

I was looking for a way to set the lighthouse in a little more context to give it scale, and ran across this view where I could get Mount Baker and the Ferry in the shot as well. The color starting to appear in the tree was a bonus.
