This shot was taken from the Gardiner side of the arch, heading into Yellowstone. If I remember correctly it was taken in the morning with a wide angle lens. A lot of patience was required to get a shot that didn't have lots of other tourists in.

This image was taken from the upper terrace loop. One of the difficulties I found here was dealing with tourists on the boardwalks. Not only did it make it harder to get a shot free of them, but other people walking on the boardwalks caused vibrations so care had to be taken with shutterspeed. I took a trip up in the early morning, but then you get more steam, which can be a good thing, depending on what kind of photo you want. I did enjoy the early mornings with less people around.

Taken middle of the afternoon if I remember correctly. The steam was minimal but the vibrations from people walking around the boardwalk were noticeable.

This shows the Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces. It is possible to drive around the back and walk around boardwalks there. The Terraces have lots of boardwalks, but those using wheelchairs or mobility scooters would not be able to access the upper terraces due to the amount of steps.

Beehive Geyser isn't always predictable so you may have some waiting time. It has a small indicator that goes off just before the main event, but in our case it didn't and caught everyone off guard. If you have Beehive in the right direction, you can sometimes see a lovely rainbow coming from it. Be warned, you may get soaked and the water, though cold, is not good for cameras. If your cameras get wet, get them dry asap as the water is corrosive.
