About this spot
One of the Royal residences, Windsor castle was built in the 11th C after the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror. It has been used by the reigning monarch since the time of Henry I and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe. If you enter the grounds, much recommended are the lavish 19th-C state apartments as well as the 15th-C St George's Chapel and Queen Mary's Doll House.
