About this spot
Southwark underground station sits on the modern (ish, the station was completed in 1999) Jubilee Line extension.
In keeping with other stations on this section, the theme is one of cold modernity, featuring lots of grey concrete and steel. This station does feature a large blue-glass wall in the upper atrium however, designed by artist Alexander Beleschenko. This has won several awards.
