Emmaus Monastery was established in 1347. Till the Second World War the church had two tower, but these were destroyed by a U.S. bombing raid on Prague on 14th February 1945.
Instead of those two towers there was installed an asymmetric 32 meters tall concrete construction. There is an optical illusion, that makes the southern tower look taller, however it is not true, both towers are the same height.
