About this spot
Zavratnica is a 900m long and narrow bay with steep mountain sides that resembles and is often called Croatian fjord (while its geological origin is different). It is one of the major local tourist attractions and designated protected landscape and easily accessible by car, boat or even by foot on the trail which descends from nearby Velebit mountain. While most people will visit the Zavratnica because of the splendid views, you can also bring your bathing suits and swim or even dive and explore sunken tow boat during summer.
It is situated just couple of hundred meters from small town Jablanac in which you will find probably the lowest positioned mountain hut in the Europe - Mountain hut Miroslav Hirtz which is situated just 26m above the sea level.
