About this spot
York Minster is a Gothic cathedral in York, England. It is the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe and one of the most important examples of medieval architecture in the UK. It is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the second-highest office of the Church of England and the mother church for the Diocese of York. It is also a popular tourist attraction, known for its intricate stone carvings, stained glass windows, and historical significance. The Minster's history dates back to the 7th century, when the first church was built on the site. The present building was constructed between the 1220s and 1472.
