Wissant is centrally located on the Opal Coast, midway between Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-nez. It is a quiet coastal village with a long promenade along the beach, a typical coastal village with numerous holiday homes and a small pleasant center around the church with some food and beverage outlets. The name Wissant (White Sand) obviously refers to the Opal beach and also indicates a certain 'Flemish' origin.
