About this spot
Great Basin National Park is home to the oldest trees in the world. Great Basin Bristlecone Pines (Pinus longaeva), found only in California, Nevada and Utah, can live for about 5,000 years. They are usually found at elevations between 9,000 and 11,500 feet (2,740 to 3,500 meters) above sea level. The trees form krummholz (stunned, deformed growth).
