About this spot
Waikiki Beach is a small beach in Cape Disappointment State Park. Reportedly the beach was named after the more famous beach in Hawaii when, in 1811, a Hawaiian sailor's body washed ashore here following a ship wreck on the nearby Columbia River bar.
From the beach itself, the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is not readily visible, but it is visible from the parking area and piled driftwood a short distance to the northwest of the beach. Besides photographing the lighthouse, this spot is know for some of the largest crashing waves on the the Washington coast.
