About this spot
Villa Empain (also called Villa Roosevelt) is a villa built by architect Michel Polak in art deco style in 1931, located on Avenue Franklin Roosevelt 67 in Brussels, commissioned by the then 23-year-old industrial baron Louis-Jean Empain, son of an industrialist Edouard Empain.
It is a detached villa built in cut granite with surrounding gardens with swimming pool bordered by a pergola with a caretaker's house at the back of Victoriastraat. The villa has an area of 3500 m², the terrain measures 0.55 ha.

This Art Deco temple features a blue mosaic bathroom, a small desk and an ingenious system of controllable lighting. The building plan, with its concatenation of interior spaces, is very sleek, contrasting with the luxurious materials used to finish the interior. The many marble types such as onyx give it a polychrome appearance. Exotic woods such as rosewood and mahogany and elegant ironwork enhance this impression.
