About this spot
During the construction of the sea dike, the dune area was largely excavated. At the western end of the seawall, one dune has been preserved, the 'White Mountain', on which an imposing row of belle epoque villas in eclectic style arises around 1900. Today the buildings are individually protected as a monument and the house group is the largest preserved whole of historical villas with sea views on our coast. A few years ago, Villa Anita was transformed by the architectural firm Vanbecelaere and Hauspie bvba from Veurne into a small-scale hotel with four hotel suites. The façade has been restored to its original state and the interior renovation also retains the original interior elements such as the fireplaces, wooden floors and doors. At the rear facade, the original elements have been retained in contrast to the new elevator shaft, covered with natural slates.
