Trollhättan - canal locks

About this spot
The canal running through Trollhättan links the river at Gothenburg to the huge Lake Vänern. On the south side of the city, the lock complex is substantial, having been expanded over the years. Today, you can explore footpaths around many of the older locks which are no longer in use (but the old wooden doors are still present) or watch ships passing through the largest and newest locks. If you're lucky, you will see one of the large cargo vessels passing, which only just fit.
There's also a canal museum, and a cafe which serves excellent shrimp sandwiches during the summer months.
