The Lago Grey area offers a totally different view of the Cordillera del Paine and some very different foregrounds to go with it. This area isn’t that great for sunrise as the mountains are in shade, but for sunset it is absolutely brilliant.
The large gravel plain along the lakeshore is very dynamic due to fluctuating river levels, but there are usually some very photogenic river channels to compose with the mountains. You will be able to see if there are any by standing on the deck of Hotel Lago Grey. If there are some, venture onto the plains and explore with a wide angle lens.
The beach of the lake also makes for a decent foreground, especially if there’s some glacial ice nearby.
