About this spot
Sourdough Ridge looks down on the Sunrise area of Mt. Rainier National Park. The ridge is reached by a steep climb from the Sunrise parking lot, through a lush meadow, which, in season may be spotted with a colorful array of delicate sub-alpine wildflowers. The meadows are not as good as those found in the Paradise area but there are plenty of other photographic opportunities here. Once on the ridge you may walk a short distance east to find the perfect view. This is also a premiere location for photographing the Milky Way, while it travels directly over the summit of The Mountain.
