About this spot
Located up the hill from Banbury Cross, St John the Evangelist was built in the 1800's so is quite a modern church. It faces onto South Bar Street, and is at the junction with Dashwood Road.
Within my memory, there was still a small convent attached to the church but that was closed in 1990 although St John's School (just a little further up the hill, in St John's Road.
