About this spot
The ruins of Torre de Sant Joan were originally built by command of King Philip II, probably around 1576, to monitor and reinforce the defence of the port of Los Alfacs.

The ruins are located 50m in the sea, in a shallow area within the Alfacs Bay, surrounded by the rice paddies of the Ebro Delta.
