About this spot
Melk Abbey is a Benedictine abbey in the Wachau Valley and sits along the Danube River. This is the longest running abbey in the world. It serves as a premiere monastic academy, with 900 students - you may see a monk or nun striding through one of the courtyards. A stunning spiral stairway connects the library to the Stiftskirche.
