Southwell Minster is located in the small town of Southwell, a few miles west of Newark, and is the seat of the Bishop and Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.
The earliest church on the site was founded around 627, but the current building was erected between 1108-1150. The Octagonal Chapter House was completed nearer to 1300.
