About this spot
Santa Chiara is a big religious complex that includes the Church of Santa Chiara, a monastery, tombs and an archeological museum. The Basilica church of Santa Chiara faces Via Benedetto Croce, which is part of the famous Via Spaccanapoli.
The most famous part of the complex is the cloister of the Clarisses, transformed in 1742 by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro with the addition of majolica tiles in Rococò style. The color floral decoration makes this cloister, with octagonal columns in pergola-like structure, likely unique. The cloister arcades are also decorated by frescoes.
