About this spot
The villages of Rylstone and Cracoe have found recent fame by being the inspiration for the well known film, The Calendar Girls, but they're tiny places so there's really not much sightseeing to do - the ridge above the two villages, in contrast, has plenty to see and do. At the southern end of the ridge is Rylstone Cross, on a huge overhanging ledge, whilst at the northern end is Cracoe War memorial, with numerous outcrops between (and more even further north, should you have the time to explore!).
The entire length of the crag can be included very naturally in a circular walk from either of the villages, the only unclear bit may be the track between the war memorial and Cracoe, but here you simply need to head a short distance further north of the memorial before finding your way towards a gate onto Fell Lane once the hillside becomes less steep.
