Kočevski Rog is the central habitat for brown bear. It is common for bears to roam in the area. If coming alone, it is a good idea to "be heard" so the animals have a chance to move away.
About this spot
Rog Žaga (the sawmill of Rog) was operational from 19th century till WWII. It was one of the largest wood processing plants in Slovenia but is now in ruins. It is located in Kočevski Rog, about halfway between Dolenjske Toplice and Kočevje.
