About this spot
The Rijksmuseum is a Dutch national museum located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is one of the most renowned museums in the world and is dedicated to the arts, crafts, and history of the Netherlands. The museum was founded in The Hague in 1800 and moved to Amsterdam in 1808. The Rijksmuseum is home to an extensive collection of Dutch art and artifacts dating from the Middle Ages to the present day, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen. The museum also houses a collection of Asian art, a library, and a research center. The museum underwent a major renovation and expansion project that was completed in 2013, which restored the building to its original 19th-century grandeur and provided new and improved facilities for visitors. The Rijksmuseum is open to the public every day except for national holidays, and it is one of the most visited museums in the Netherlands.
