About this spot
Two million passengers made the crossing from Antwerp to North America with the steam ships of the Red Star Line. Their story, that of the shipping company that transported them and that of the city and port from which they departed, are central.

Three historic harbor sheds are located on the Rijnkaai on the Antwerp Island, just before the bend of the Scheldt. They were once owned or used by the Red Star Line shipping company. The migrants underwent medical and administrative checks and their luggage was disinfected.
