About this spot
At one time, the Carbon River Road was a narrow, dirt, access route to Ipsut Creek Campground. In 2006, the road was partially destroyed by a flood which washed out a section of the roadbed. The road was rebuilt and the following year there was another storm which washed it out again. Today the Carbon River is still attempting to wash away the road which is now closed to all except park vehicles. Visitors may walk or ride bikes up the old road to access the trails. The trail to Ranger Falls and Green Lake is one of the most popular in the Carbon River Valley.
