About this spot
The Purton Hulks or Purton Ships' Graveyard is some abandoned boats and ships, deliberately beached along the River Severn near Purton to reinforce the river banks. They were mostly beached in the 1950s and are now fairly decayed. The site forms the largest ship graveyard in mainland Britain.
