About this spot
This bridge was originally build in 1802 under the reign of Napoleon and rebuilt in 1981 and 1984.

Located in the middle of Paris' historic city centre, between the prestigious Louvre Palace and the majestic French Institute, the Arts Bridge (Pont des Arts) is one of Paris' most famous and romantic bridges. Adored by lovers, painters and photographers, this charming footbridge has featured in many films and offers magnificent views of the Seine, the Island of the City, the Louvre Museum and the Carrousel Bridge!
Once famous for people placing padlocks on the railings to symbols their love, the locks were removed in 2015 due to the weight - in excess of 45 tones, causing structural weakening.
