About this spot
Point Defiance Park, covering 760 acres, is one of largest urban park in the United States. It offers a zoo and aquarium, old-growth forest, saltwater beaches, mountain and Puget Sound viewpoints, and more than a half a dozen gardens. Five-mile Drive is a one-way road that starts and ends at the park’s main entrance and, not surprisingly, is five miles long. However, in 2022, the City permanently closed the outer portion of the drive, making it only available to foot-traffic and bicycles. This spot includes the the portion of the Five-mile Drive that is closed to motor traffic and accesses the northern, less developed portion of the park. There are also multiple trails through the old-growth forest in this section of the park.
