About this spot
The Perkins House is a historic Victorian-style house in Colfax. Built in 1887, it is now a museum and home of Whitman County Historical Society. The interior of the house is open (as of 2021) on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm; however, the grounds are always open.

It was the home of James Perkins and his family and descendants until the late 1960s. Perkins was one of the founders of Colfax, and the home was the center of Colfax social life until the 1920s.

Perkins and his wife, Sarah, lived in a log cabin prior to building the house. Though not originally on the same property, their log cabin was restored and moved to the property by the historical society.
