We arrived hoping that the fog did not obscure the view from the Observatory. We were the first ones there. The volunteer at the base of the tower radioed the top. It was too foggy to see up there.

While shooting my way through Ft. Knox I find the fog has lifted enough that the towers are clear. The Observatory is on the right. The pink granite and the round gun emplacements to the left are part of Ft. Knox.

About this spot
The Observatory is located at the top of a 447 ft/136.2 m tower on the Penobscot Narrows Bridge. The tower on the west end of the bridge is the Observatory. The Observatory shares a state park with Ft. Knox (not the Ft Knox with the gold.) The view is spectacular, particularly in October during the fall foliage color change. The season runs from May 1 to October 31.
