About this spot
Pen-y-ghent is one of the three most famous mountains in Yorkshire and, despite it being relatively small in comparison to Whernside and Ingleborough, makes up for it with its shapeliness. The village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale itself is often a very busy place, being the traditional start and end point of the 3 Peaks walk but it's a lovely place to sit and enjoy some food and drink before/after a wander into the hills.
The final climb onto the summit of Pen-y-ghent is steep and you may need your hands in places, especially in inclement weather when the limestone gets slippery.
