About this spot
Godshuis de Pelicaen, also known as the Pelican Almshouse, is a historic building located in the city of Bruges. It is a well-preserved example of a medieval almshouse and serves as a testament to the charitable and religious traditions of the city.

The almshouse was founded in the 15th century, specifically in 1443, and was intended to provide housing and support for elderly, impoverished women. It was established by the Guild of Bakers and was dedicated to Saint Elisabeth of Hungary.
