About this spot
Paria Canyon is one of the most famous classic backpacking trip of the Southwest. The full descent all the way to Lee’s Ferry takes between four and six days, but it is possible to get an excellent idea of what Paria Canyon looks like by day-hiking down from the White House trailhead to the confluence of the Paria and Buckskin Gulch and back in a moderately difficult 15 mile round-trip, taking the better part of a day.
The first few miles are usually dry most of the year, but you should expect numerous water crossings, muddy areas or water holes further down, and even some knee-deep wading before the confluence.
