About this spot
Owls Head Light was built in 1852 at the site of the 1825 wooden lighthouse. It is only two stories tall but stands on an 80 feet cliff above Rockland Harbor. The keeper's house is below the light. The house is currently the interpretive center for the American Lighthouse Foundation.
