About this spot
Between the two arms of the Rhône river (Grande Rhône and Petit Rhône) there is the Camargue National Park (Parc Naturel Régional de Camargue). Probably most famous due to the typical Camargue horses, it is also home for more than 400 species of birds. For instance it is one of the few European habitats for the greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus). Ornithological Park of Pont de Gau is probably the easiest way how to get close to the birds, including flamingos. It is opened throughout the whole year.
