About this spot
Maritime Access has built a new maritime port for the twenty-first century in the port of Ostend. The strategic plan for the port has improved accessibility and better protected the city of Ostend against flooding. The two new breakwaters were designed to withstand a storm that statistically attacks our coast once every 1,000 years. The protection was therefore increased considerably.

The new eastern breakwater, which runs 600 meters far into the sea, together with the western dam defines the new port access.

Ships up to a length of 200 meters can now enter the harbor smoothly and safely.
