Although the Mosque is a popular tourist spot and landmark, it's still used daily as a place of worship. Ensure you don't photograph people praying, dress respectfully, and avoid prayer times.

About this spot
Completed in 1755, the Nuruosmaniye Mosque features one of the largest domes in the city coming just behind the Hagia Sophia and the Süleymaniye Mosque at 83 feet in diameter.

Designed by a non-muslim Greek architect, Simeon Kalfa, it is built in the Ottoman Baroque style. Outside to the west, a large semicircular courtyard offers a peaceful space before you enter. Inside, the main hall is light and airy thanks to the light colour of the construction materials and many stained-glass windows.
