About this spot
Northrup Canyon can be explored via a 3-mile round trip hike in Steamboat Rock State Park. The canyon is home to the only native forest in Grant County, Washington. It is well known as a good birding spot. Bald eagles congregate in the canyon in the winter; while hawks and other birds are common the rest of the year. The trail ends near an abandoned homestead with an old house and an older cabin. A side trail leads up to the canyon rim.
