United Kingdom Normanton Church

About this spot
Probably the most famous landmark in Rutland, Normanton Church stands on a small island in Rutland Water, joined to the shore by a short causeway.
Rutland Water is a large man-made reservoir, and when it was created, much of the village of Normanton was submerged. A project was launched to save the church however, so the lower level was filled with rubble and concreted over, with the remaining upper part of the church left intact as we see it today.
