One of the most impressive displays of ancient rock art in the American Southwest, Newspaper Rock has petroglyphs that date back 1,500 years, though most are more recent. The petroglyphs are carved into a 200-square foot rock panel covered with rusty -brown desert varnish. Newspaper Rock is a Utah State Historic Monument.
