About this spot
Monek fortress dates from the 12th- 13th century. It is one of the highest in the Rhodope mountains situated at 586m. Only a few walls are preserved from the fortress but the view towards Student Kladenets reservoir, Kardzhali town and the rocks below the fortress are well worth the visit.
