About this spot
In the east of the large Aquitaine region, close to the Dordogne valley, Sarlat, the capital of the Périgord Noir, lies in the heart of a forest area.

The name Sarlat is associated with gastronomic and cultural pleasures. Its worldwide reputation has been linked to its rich history since the Middle Ages. Its evolution over the centuries has left it an exceptional heritage. Sarlat is the first preserved area in France to be restored according to the Malraux Law of 1964. Its classification as City of Art and History is proof of its great architectural quality. The streets of the Middle Ages and the large squares bathed in sunlight, especially lively and animated on market days, offer people a wonderful way of life. Since 1928, filmmakers have found authentic sets at this location to film historical films.
