About this spot
Lake Kussharo is a caldera lake within the Akan Mashu National Park. You can enjoy fishing, kayaking, cycling, hiking, and camping around this lake. This is a hot spot for geothermal activity and home to a number of hot springs, including Sunayu Onsen and Oyakotsu Jigoku. In winter 400 - 500 Whooper swans make their home in the warm geothermal waters of the outer lake.
