About this spot
Surrounded by the mountains and forests of Laurisilva, Lagoa Funda is one of seven lagoons on Flores Island in the Azores. They were formed in volcanic craters from the eruptions that gave rise to this island. The remaining ponds of this set are the White Pond, Long Pond, a shallow lagoon, Lagoa da Lomba, the Black Lagoon and the Lagoa Seca.
