About this spot
La Mare aux Sangliers is a natural pond located in the heart of the Huelgoat forest in Brittany, France. The name of the pond translates to "the pond of wild boars" in English, and it is believed to have been a watering hole for these animals in the past.

The pond is surrounded by dense forest and is a popular spot for hiking, picnicking, and nature observation. The tranquil setting and abundant wildlife make it a favorite spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts.

According to local legends, the pond is said to be bottomless, and many stories have been told about its mysterious depths. One legend tells of a nobleman who, while out hunting, saw a beautiful fairy bathing in the pond. He fell in love with her and tried to capture her, but she disappeared into the water, dragging him down with her.

Another legend tells of a treasure hidden in the pond, guarded by the spirits of the forest. Many have searched for this treasure over the years, but none have been successful.

Today, La Mare aux Sangliers remains a beautiful and peaceful spot in the heart of the Huelgoat forest, where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of Brittany and immerse themselves in the legends and folklore of the region.
