About this spot
Kočevsko Jezero (Kočevje Lake) is an artificial lake, caused by mining for coal in 19th and 20th century. When open mine was gradually abandoned in mid 20th century, the water slowly filled the empty mine and created this popular lake. Nowadays there are restaurants, boardwalks and sailboats on the lake.
