About this spot
Little Hagia is a local mosque but was once a Greek Eastern Orthodox church dedicated to Saints Sergius and Bacchus in Constantinople, built between 532 and 536. It was converted into a mosque during the Ottoman Empire. It is one of the most important early Byzantine buildings in Istanbul.
Inside the edifice there is a beautiful two-storey colonnade. Many of the column capitals still bear the monograms of Justinian and Theodora.
